Reviewing old photos is always fun. They can bring you back in time, but they also can take your breath away. As much as I don’t like the cold and snow, I really do enjoy this photo. The funny part is it is a stitch of about 14 photos that I took back with my Canon 20D. When I took this, there was intentions of stitching these photos to make a great panorama, however the software wasn’t where it needed to be at that time. Fast forward many years later, Photoshop CC has the ability to make panoramas with ease and does a great job at it too! Hope you enjoy my view of Banff, after a cold hike. 🙂 The view is truly breathtaking, and you should be experienced IRL!
Looking back at my archive of photos, I had neglected to review some of my model shoots I did in the past. I must have picked another picture and ran with it, but when I saw this gem, I had to post it. It was shot with a Canon 1DS MKII using a Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS lens. It was shot at F/2.8 @ 110mm, and there was a light reflector bouncing light onto her. There isn’t much here for the Fort Worth Water garden because it’s blurred out in the background, but lighting and the model seemed to make this photo work really well.
I should mention that this is also my first time using Portrait Professional software. I’m still getting used to the software, but I think the results speak for themselves. Combination of Lightroom/Portrait Pro and Photoshop, with Portrait Professional doing the heavy lifting. If you’re on the fence about getting Portrait Professional, just download their trial. I have a coupon code here for 15% off: WZHT-JQON-QYIE-YTMI
Maroon 5 played at the American Airlines Center on March 21st, 2013 for their “Daylight Tour”. We had some decent seats in the 300 section, almost front and high-center. I was able to catch some great photos of the Maroon 5 stage, as well as Adam Levine. I took the above photos with my iPhone 5, and was pretty happy with the results after some quick edits in Photoshop. If you’re wondering about the concert, it was fantastic!!! The other openers were Owl City and Neon Trees, both of which were great as well. If you’re on the fence about buying tickets, don’t hesitate!!!!! Awesome show!
The Dallas Arboretum has some fantastic night time displays of the Chihuly glass sculptures which look very cool at night. These are on display during the daytime, but daytime does not give it justice. You have to pay extra for the night time tickets, but if you have a yearly membership the Chihuly Nights tickets are discounted significantly. The above picture has several pieces in water which causes the glass to have a really neat mirror image on the water. The above was taken handheld at an amazing ISO 25600 and the 5DMk3 took it without a hitch. Amazing camera. Also, I was able to use my recently acquired 17-40L for a great ultra wide view. Hope you enjoyed this picture, and hope you get to make it out to the Dallas Chihuly Nights– They are in town from May 2012 until October 2012. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent!
Here’s a model that doesn’t complain (much) about shooting for too long 🙂 She is my little Maltese dog (1.5 years old). I shot this with my new Canon 5D MK3 using a 17-40 F/4L lense. Maltese dogs are so good and loving dogs. My Bailey is about 8 pounds full of fluff 🙂
The Canon 17-40 is very new for me, and so far I am really enjoying the wide angle on a full frame. No doubt about it–there is distortion, but that is what also makes the photos looks cool. Notice how Bailey’s head looks disproportional to her body? Looks like I’m going to have a lot of fun with this lens! I got a great deal on it too from, believe it or not — Dell! Some sort of Amex sync for an extra $100 off, along with some Dell Advantage gift cards. Long story short, I came out paying $300 less than retail for it. Score!
As many of you know, I previously had a photo blog. I’ll be transitioning that PixelPost blog over to the WordPress blogging platform and hopefully the pictures will be transitioned correctly. This will also give me the ability to post standard posts as well as my photos
What a wonderful birthday cake. This beautiful cheesecake was a birthday cake for yours truly. It was from cheesecake factory. Kimby added the berries on top, which made it even more delicious and beautiful. 😀
Visiting the Bahamas in June, it was an opportune time to visit a flower garden. This picture was taken at the Garden of the Groves botanical garden in Freeport, The Bahamas. It was actually taken with a simple little point and shoot (Canon SD1200IS), but post processed. I’m not sure of the name of this type of flower so if you know, please let me know asap so I can update this post.
